What Name for Bump does

You answer some questions, and we suggest baby names that fit. An AI model, Claude by Anthropic, picks the names and writes their origins, meanings and the reasons they might suit you. Every name is checked against national birth records, and the popularity figures come from those records.

Origins and meanings are written by AI and can be wrong, so please check them before you decide. A name is a big choice, and the choice is yours. We can't promise that any name is right for your family, or that it's free of meanings or associations in other languages.

Free rounds

Names come in rounds of 10, and each round learns from what you thought of the last. Your first 3 rounds are free. That's per browser, and we may limit free rounds from the same connection to stop the offer being misused.

The Name Pass

• It costs £4.99, once, including VAT. It isn't a subscription, and it doesn't renew.
• It gives you as many rounds of names as you like for a year (365 days) from the moment you buy it.
• It works in the browser you bought it in, and in any other browser where you open the link we email you, or enter a code we send to your checkout email.
• It's for you and your partner to use. Please don't share it more widely, sell it, or use scripts or other automated tools with it. To keep the service working for everyone, we limit how many sets can be made in a short time.

Paying

Checkout is run by our reseller, named at checkout, which uses Stripe to take payment. The reseller sells you the pass and handles payment, VAT and your receipt under its own terms, which you'll see at checkout. We provide the Name Pass itself under these terms.

Refunds

If the Name Pass isn't for you, email hello@nameforbump.com within 14 days of buying it, from the address you used at checkout, and we'll refund you in full. You don't need to give a reason, and it doesn't matter how many rounds you've had. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, and a refund ends the pass.

After that, you still have your legal rights. If the Name Pass doesn't work as described, we'll fix it, or refund you if we can't. If we close Name for Bump while your pass still has time left, we'll refund the unused part.

If something goes wrong

We work hard to keep Name for Bump running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, or slow when the AI model is busy. We may change how it works, such as the questions we ask, as long as the Name Pass still does what we said it would.

We're responsible for loss or damage that a reasonable person would expect to follow from us breaking these terms or being careless. Otherwise, and as far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for anything the law doesn't let us limit, or takes away your legal rights as a consumer.

Using the site fairly

Please don't try to get around the free set or the pass, overload the service, copy it in bulk, or use it to break the law. If you do, we may stop your pass from working. If that happens, we'll tell you why where we can.

Changes, and the law

We may update these terms. The terms that applied when you bought your pass still cover it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
